Dave the Diver asks the question what if cozy games were good? A question not asked since Stardew Valley and rarely even conceived of in the past couple years.
In the dime-a-dozen farm sim, life sim, fishing sim, cooking sim, idontknowhowtowriteiguessilljustcallthisasim sim landscape, Dave the Diver stands out as one of a kind. You are Dave, a rather heavy scuba diving man, who has swimming prowess beyond the comprehension of any mere mortal. Your job is to successfully run your sushi shop which you do by utilizing the aforementioned swimming prowess. While you accomplish this cyclical task, you stumble upon more and more mysteries in the ocean below you and have to work with increasingly quirkier characters to uncover them. Dave the Diver is a narrative-driven RPG wearing a cozy game hat. It goes so far beyond any cozy game. There is an endless amount of unique mechanics in this game that constantly keep you engaged and in fact the only reason I am taking off a point is because the sheer amount of them makes you feel a bit overwhelmed towards the end.
If you think your cozy game should have goals, a story, charming characters, actual gameplay mechanics, and unbelievably gorgeous pixel animations play this game.
