Remains to this day one of the best hunting games I have ever played
While the game absolutely shows it's age, it is one of the only video games I have played that truly captured a lot of the essence of hunting and shows a genuine appreciation for it. The later installments in the series practically turn into arcade style rail shooters that are so over the top that it hardly feels like the same series.
This game, on the other hand, takes the time to explain things like the meeting with the game warden, reservation land and hunting regulations, types of weapons you are allowed to hunt with, etc. While that may sound boring, it keeps the gameplay loop fresh and fun with exploring different landscapes and tracking animals.
