Privacy Policy

GameGrades ("we", "us") operates the website at gamegrades.gg and the GameGrades desktop app (together, the "Service"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it simple: we collect what we need to run a game review community, and we do not sell your personal information.

Information we collect

Account information. A username and password when you register. Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. You may optionally add an email address, which we use for email verification and password resets.
Profile and content. Anything you choose to add to your profile (such as an avatar or a background game) and the content you create on the Service, including game grades, written reviews, top lists, backlog entries, and comments or votes.
Steam integration (optional). If you link a Steam profile, we retrieve your public Steam information (such as your SteamID, persona name, avatar, game library, and playtime) through the Steam Web API to import and sync your games. We only access information Steam makes available for your profile's visibility settings.
Feedback. If you submit feedback or a bug report, we receive the message you write, the page you sent it from, your username, and any screenshot you choose to attach.
Technical data. Standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) used for security, rate limiting, and keeping the Service running.

Cookies and local storage

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. We also use your browser's local storage for interface preferences (for example, remembering layout settings). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How we use your information

To provide the Service: accounts, reviews, lists, friends, and notifications.
To compute community features such as average scores and aggregate statistics.
To send account emails you request, such as email verification and password resets.
To protect the Service from abuse, spam, and unauthorized access.

What is public

GameGrades is a community site. Your username, profile, grades, reviews, and public lists are visible to other users and may be visible to visitors who are not signed in. Please don't include personal information you want to keep private in your reviews or profile.

Third-party services

We rely on a small number of service providers to operate the Service:

IGDB (via Twitch) for game metadata and cover artwork.
Steam Web API for optional library import and sync.
Cloudflare for content delivery and image storage.
Hosting and email delivery providers used to run the Service and send account emails.

These providers process data only as needed to provide their services to us. We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active. If you would like your account or any of your data deleted, contact us at support@gamegrades.gg and we will take care of it.

Security

The Service is served over HTTPS, passwords are hashed, and access to production systems is restricted. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
