Jsaber's Review
Jsaber's Thoughts
I wanted to love this game, but in general the whole thing felt really uninspired. Segments of the game are better than others, but the world felt really bland aside from the mountain region, and the plot felt like it was trying way too hard to be serious and sort of fell flat for me. Even the boss fights felt a little disjointed and honestly disappointing in terms of the duration and "fun" factor. That, paired with the low drop rate on golden guns, and the game just felt unsatisfying to play at times.
Not to mention the price and performance on launch. At $70.00, I was expecting something that would be polished and exciting, and I could get at least 70 hours out of. I don't think it really hit the mark on any of those.
The gameplay is genuinely fun and does feel like the classic borderlands experience. The guns have some wacky and zany mechanics and the grenades/throwables shine in this game even in comparison to previous entries. The side quests still have that iconic borderlands feeling as well, some being outright ridiculous but in a lovable way. By no means is it all bad, but it fell short of the lofty expectations they themselves set for this game.
