sadsad's Thoughts
Imagine: you're a radio host for a rundown, sleepy small town playing funky 80s synth wave for your audience of nine people. While you're barely into the job, all of a sudden, you are transformed from radio host to 911 operator as a terrifying serial killer rises from the depths of the town's collective nightmare to start murdering again. Set to those same synthy beats, you are now tasked with talking the townsfolk through surviving their own individual serial killer encounters.
It's a super cool concept and because its so cool, it's all the more disappointing when the character writing and storytelling fall short. It fully lacks the charisma and self-awareness needed to pull off the homage to 80s slasher films its trying to be. Many of the mysteries you solve make you think yeah, I guess there was a lot of lead in the water back then so maybe the game is just being realistic by depicting most characters as painfully stupid. The mystery also falls apart if you think a little too hard.
If you can pinch your nose through the rotten, never funny dialogue then this is a decent game with a fun atmosphere and unique twist on a point and click mystery game.
